French Onion Soup
We love french onion soup but WTF how do you even make those onions sooooooo carmelized!? Time. So much time. I’ve tried instant pot and crock pot, but for me the old ways are best and I like doing it like this.

I found this recipe on a craft beer website. I modified it to not use a pumpkin ale (apple juice/cider substitue). My kids went nuts and loved it so much. It’s a delicious fall and winter recipe.
This recipe is part of my childhood. Along with Gumbo sandwiches (PB&J premixed in a bowl then spread on bread) and chicken soup. My mom used to make this dish and we’d all be very excited to eat it. I made it for my dad for his last birthday because it’s his favorite meal. Then I married a guy who had never had it. In our first few weeks of marriage I made it for the first time and he thought I was nuts and that all that cheese and sauce couldn’t possibly be that good, but since then he has grown to love this meal and requests it often. Give it a chance…you’ll love it
Today it snowed for the first time this fall in Colorado. It was cold and wet and I was hungry. Nothing sounds better than Beef Stew on this type of day. Here’s the recipe.
Back when I worked at a restaurant, they once had a salad that was seasonal and so good that I ate it probably once a day for the 3 months they carried it. My skin looked great and I felt healthy all that month as well if I remember correctly. This is my take on that salad. Mine is just as good, but the dressing is easier.
Sounds decadent doesn’t it? So one night I was going to make my Nane’s pasta with clam sauce, but I only had salmon. Then someone came over with a bottle of champagne. I thought, “mmm…can I find a recipe that fits all three?” The answer was, “with a little combination-yes”. So here’s the recipe, taken from a HG-TV recipe, a Food Network Recipe and my Nane’s recipe.
Here’s the story: Chapter 1: My husband loves lamb. Chapter 2: I love lamb. Chapter 3: I search and search until I find a recipe that makes the best rack of lamb. Chapter 4: I combine several recipes to make a rack of lamb that makes my husband, “…promise to stay married to you for at least another year.” The End
Nane gave me the recipe for her Sunday Sauce, of course she taught me how to make meatballs too.
My Nane used to make this for us on family dinner Sundays when she wanted a change from the regular sauce. As a kid I always picked the clams out but loved the sauce. As an adult I love the whole thing now.
My kids love this meatloaf recipe. My friends love this recipe. Everyone loves this recipe. I got it off a website. I did not write down which one. If this is yours let me know and shout to the world that you’re a cooking genius.
